Innkeeper x Jet’s April Babe

Congratulations to Alden Smith of Farmington, Maine. Alden presently co-owns Red with West Freeman Sporthorses. Red will remain on the farm for training and our plans are to market her at 3-4 years of age in the Eventing and H/J worlds. Red could be purchased before this time if we felt the buyer was an appropriate match. Feel free to email us if you feel that person might be you.

Wriggling and struggling to get out of her mare’s womb, led us all to believe that she was actually going to be a he. But here she is, beautifully balanced and very easy to work with.

Make no mistake, this filly is still very active, and spins around the pasture block several times before kicking it into a higher gear. She just lays her ears back when you think she is flying at top speed, and she sprints away from where she was at the gallop. First this way then that, this filly just doesn’t quit. She makes screeching halts and zips off in another direction. The world is at her command, and she knows what she wants. Wind in her mane… The strength, balance, and endurance that she possesses, is remarkable.

Her first experience with the farrier went remarkably well, and was able to stand to get her toes rasped ever so slightly. She was very good throughout, and her behavior is a testament to her intellect, natural balance, and trust for her human stewards.

This filly is the spittin’ image of Secretariat. She is a once in a lifetime kind of spirit… with all the fire and get up and go you could ever ask for, combined with a confidence to walk right up to say hello, to anyone or anything. She is very friendly, and curious.

Her conformation is wonderful. She exhibits a very strong hindquarter, with very nice angles. She combines this with a long thigh, and gaskin. A view from directly behind reveals hind legs that are correct and straight. Her length of back is proportional to her size, and her shoulder is strong, and at a lovely angle, allowing movement, and agility.

She has a beautifully shaped neck, which is muscular and nicely set on. Her expression is priceless…
